Deep in the Heart of Texas

My employer is flying me out to Houston, TX for a week-long conference on estate planning and tax-deferred investment vehicles.

A few evenings are already booked for various social engagements, but I'm open to suggestions for the balance of my free time. What are 'must-see' things for a first-time visitor to the city? And is there anyone I should meet while I'm out there?

You wake up at Seatac. SFO. LAX. You wake up at O'Hare. Dallas-Fort Worth. BWI. Pacific. Mountain. Central. Lose an hour, gain an hour ... If you wake up at a different time, in a different place, could you wake up as a different person? Everywhere I travel: tiny life. Single-serving sugar, single-serving cream, single pat of butter, a microwave cordon-bleu hobby kit. Shampoo-conditioner combos. Sample package mouthwash. Tiny bars of soap. The people I meet on each flight ... single-serving friends. Between takeoff and landing, we have our time together. But that's all we get.
