Online Quiz/Survey Addiction Index Test


I am going to stop reading my friends page until people get over trying to find out what % slut/geek/pure/etc they are, or what superhero/robot/goddess/lj persona they are most like, or what their pagan/fairy/superhero/hobbit name they have or what the contents of their purse/wallet/knapsack are etc. I'll just go directly to the journals of those I suspect are not wasting my time with such unoriginal crap …

The issue is that too many people are posting these things in place of something genuinely from themselves. Those surveys and test show nothing, because the questions and criteria are arbitrary. They are not based in any real insight into psychology. Also, my frustration derives from the sheer infectiousness of these things. Today when I opened my friend page looking for sparks of insight and brilliance, the very reason I friended all these people in the first place, I'd say that nearly 30% of the posts involved the results of these damned surveys.

Amen, sister! Why do interesting, multidimensional people feel compelled to devote time trying to classify themselves by contrived, linear polls? The truth is, most people are far more fascinating when they take the effort to introduce/share themselves with their own voice - whether through short stories, thoughtful essays, personal artwork, downloadable music, or even bad poetry.
